August 2012 – North Rhine-Westphalia's new economics minister puts in a stop at the Lippe river, where he visits SIBA. At the beginning of August, a delegation headed up by managing director Bernd Schwegmann took Garrelt Duin (on right in photo) and Social Democrat member of the state parliament Rainer Schmeltzer (on left in photo, photo: Theobald/Ruhrnachrichten) on a tour of SIBA's facilities in Lünen, where fuses sold the world over have been made since 1946 (1955 at the actual location).
Showing his visitors around, Mr. Schwegmann was able to showcase the fuse maker's extensive portfolio of products: from high voltage fuses for energy suppliers to low voltage fuses for mains and switchgear to ultra-rapid fuses for photovoltaics and power electronics through to miniature fuses for industrial electronics. He also informed the minister about the company's solid business development and his plans for enlarging the plant even further - following a first expansion only a few years ago.
For his part, Mr. Duin was especially delighted to hear Mr. Schwegmann report that unlike in previous years, finding capable trainees had become much easier.
